I’ve noticed a few unusual things with SMART 478, which I’m using on SMART 7.5.10.
The problem is with the trace deactivation. The instructions ask us to set the trace recorder to Zero so that the tracklog is not recorded.
However, when I customize the track recording by transport type (vehicle, canoe, foot, fixed station) in the Package, I find that the track is still recorded, and gives daily values ranging from 100m to 500m.
In principle, the track should no longer register, and the daily value should be 0m.
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem?
It does appear that the on screen prompt indicates that setting the time to “0” indicates that no track will be recorded. I’ve not seen this in practice before.
I will look into this and get back to you. It appears, though, that currently this may just be using the observations to create the track by connecting the waypoints.
In the meantime, you can delete the track for each day after the fact in the patrol view.
I’d be interested to learn more about your use case and why using patrols without track is preferential.
Thanks for your explanations and technical support.
Indeed, that’s what I’ve been trying to do while waiting for an ideal, automated solution.
Our on-site patrols are divided into two types of patrol team: mobile and fixed.
All mobile teams deploy using several types of transport (foot, vehicle, boat, motorcycle and plane) to express the distance covered.
For fixed teams, ideally, they conduct their patrols on fixed stations that we set up around protected areas, simply by searching/controlling means of transport (vehicle, motorcycle, boat, etc.) and users transiting along roads or large rivers, and we don’t record any tracks because the team is stationed at a single point and is therefore not expected to cover a distance. In this case, we use the “Fixed patrol” transport type, whose track recording timer must be deactivated - i.e. Zero.
In the event that this fixed-station team needs to move/radiate some distance from the fixed station, we then use the “Fixed Patrols with Radiation” transport type, whose track recording timer is set to 10 seconds to enable recording of the distance covered during radiation around the fixed station.
