Hi There
We have recently experienced some data loss when exporting data to connect. The benefit of connect is the automation, a functionality we don’t want to lose, but it is hard to get people to trust the connect setup after data loss. Does anyone have a workflow to share that involves locally saving the data on the device, before exporting it to connect, so that there is always a local backup if things go missing in the cloud?
If this does not exist, this would really be a helpful feature to consider in the future. We really try to encourage regional use of the software, but nothing scares off potential users quite like the loss of data. For now, we are going to be extra cautious and stick to the good old cable!
Many thanks for any advice

Hi Mich,
We have been tracking an issue of possible data loss on slow networks, and it is now resolved with the latest version.
The device internally keeps backups, so if you have the device from which you lost data, we may still be able to recover it from a bug report.
The current model is:
-
If the Connect server fails, you can recover the data using the “Recover Connect data” feature from the Settings page inside the project. This is an emergency recovery feature which is not intended for general use.
-
If some sighting data is not sent and cannot be sent from the device for some reason, then you can use the “Share” feature at the bottom of the “Upload queue” page. This will create a ZIP file which contains JSON files you can import from SMART desktop. Again, this is an emergency data recovery mechanism that should not be needed.
-
There is a new archive feature which lets you leave data on the device until you delete it explicitly. You can enable this from the Data archive page of the main settings. This does not let you resend previously archived data to SMART, but it should build confidence that the data is not lost. In addition, you can query it and see where you have been, etc.
Cheers,

Hi Justin
Great, thank you so much for sharing these steps, its great to know they are available, so that we can avoid any panic when data is seemingly lost. I will share this with the teams we work with, it will no doubt give them peace of mind, and help build confidence in the software.
Much appreciated
Mich
Hello
The recent update of SMART MOVIL has caused us to lose projects and therefore patrols on iOS devices. The question would be whether there is any procedure for recovering this data.
We are aware of this issue. Can you clarify that your device took an update while it still had data on it? Normally the iOS configuration automatically uploads data, so it would be a matter of reloading your projects and no data should be lost.
In any case, please do not uninstall the app. The data is still there, but it is inaccessible. We are putting together a recovery plan.
