When I import the results of a query for wildlife observations data into Excel, then the number of observed animals is increased 10x in Excel. E.g. 3.0 ibex in SMART becomes 30 ibex in Excel. I have tried to solve this with setting cell settings to text, by changing the decimal separator in Windows and in Excel, but I was unable to solve the problem. I hope someone can help me out!
I would like to see a few things to help troubleshoot.
Could you open the exported .csv using Notepad and take a snapshot of the result?
Could you run the observation query in queries and share a snapshot of the result? You can crop out the headers for privacy if you want. I am more interested in the counts.
Thanks for helping out. Below pictures of a query for ibex resulting in numbers of various observed individuals by sex and age classes. The numbers are multiplied by 10 in Excel, see 2nd picture.
Thank you for sharing the screenshots. I have tested several times this particular scenario with several queries and also used the Russian language pack to see if there could be a bug there but I have not been able to replicate the issue. Everything seems to export just fine. Could you please tell me what version of SMART you are using? I think upgrading your version would help with this issue.
Apologies for not answering sooner, but I am in Turkmenistan where the forum is blocked except in some hotels with foreigners. The query results were produced with SMART 7.5.6. The issue is related to Windows or Excel settings, because on other Windows computers the same query data appear without this problem in Excel.
