SMART/ER Integration

Hi There

For anyone with experience using the ER–>SMART integration (data moving from ER into SMART), does it matter if the ER data is sent into SMART via the main Data Model event categories, or should it always go through the Configurable Model event category when the CM is checked to “use with SMART integrate.” Also, what is the best practice for hiding SMART event categories in ER? I know that inactivating them can impact the integration, what happens if I move them to Hidden event categories?

Thank you very much!
Mich

Hi Michelle,

Apologies, I am not very familiar with this but I’ve looked into this a little now.

it is my understanding that if you’re pushing data from EarthRanger into SMART, it’s generally best to use the Configurable Model (CM) event category that’s been marked “Use with SMART Integrate.” That route ensures the event structure matches SMART’s expected schema and avoids conflicts with the core data model.

For visibility, don’t inactivate SMART-linked event types in EarthRanger — that can stop the integration from seeing them. Instead, move them into a Hidden event category (or limit visibility by user permissions). Hidden keeps them functional for integration but out of the main UI.

Let me know if this makes sense.

Thanks

Alex
