Starlink server connection issues

Hey everyone, I’ve come across an interesting issue. Another organisation here in Honduras is using Starlink and so far we’ve been unable to reach the ScaaS using it. I was able to have them hotspot their local cellular provider to sync and process messages. Has anyone else encountered this with Starlink elsewhere?

Thanks

Hi there
I know in Zambia and Zim we haven’t had issues connecting to the Connect ScaaS server via Starlink.

Are you able to access the server address directly through your browser or is the error solely through the SMART Desktop environment?

Regards

Haven’t used it very extensively - but at least during an initial setup in Mozambique, we were using Starlink and it was working well. Think it was a personal set up…

Thanks for the replies. I was doing virtual training, so I was on another island. The client was using zoom through the starlink connection. When they tried to process messages in SMART Desktop, they kept getting a connection error. Finally I asked them to open a browser and try to login to the instance with their credentials. They were unable to reach the server. After some head scratching, I asked them if they could hotspot their phone to their computer. Once they did so, they immediately could reach the server and the same was true through SMART desktop. We processed messages and successfully completed my training.

It is very possible that this is caused by some setting that the organisation has selected with their starlink. I am not a starlink customer so I do not have any experience with it. I am going to try it myself with a friend who has it installed and see if it is a regional starlink issue. Thanks again for your feedback. I will report back the outcome.

Ok, so I’m posting this from a Starlink connection in Roatán’s West End. I’ve had no connection issues with reaching the server from a browser or SMART Desktop. I think we can rule out SMART for the issue here. I think it must be a local firewall or DNS issue.

The coordinator from the organisation tried to access the server from their phone this morning and here is the screenshot. I will be following up with their IT staff.
